Surprise Attack

Three Hurricanes of 46 Squadron, led by Flt Lt Pat Jameson attack two Dornier 26 Flying Boats in Rombaksfjord near Narvik on 28th May 1940.  Both Dorniers were sunk in the attack.

This painting, commissioned by the Norwegian Armed Forces depicts Hurricanes of 46 Squadron during the Narvik campaign. I was very fortunate to take a trip up to Narvik to research this painting and actually trekked along the side of Rombaksfjord to reach this spot.  It was wonderfully inspiring to stand there and imagine the Hurricanes roaring overhead all those years ago.
