Pamięć Bohaterom
(Remember the Heroes)
Hurricanes of 302 (City of Poznań) Squadron take off from RAF Duxford on 15 September 1940 to intercept a Luftwaffe raid heading for London. P3935 WX-D is being flown by Sgt. Julian Kowalski and P9254 WX-E by Flt Lt. Tadeusz Chłopik . Only Kowalski returned that day, Chłopik died in combat when his parachute failed to open near Raweth in Essex.
This important and historic original painting took over six months to complete, with many weeks just spent on the research and painting of Duxford’s hangars in the background! It was painted in support of the Polish Heritage Flight and prints have been published to raise funds for the Polish Heritage Flight’s ‘Duxford to Dęblin’ project due to take place in August 2025.
The original painting as seen above is currently at Duxford and will be on display for one day only on 8 February 2025 as part of a wider Battle of Britain exhibition.
The painting is now for sale, here, and will be available for delivery after the 8 February exhibition.
UK purchasers can receive it fully framed, but due to the size of the painting, overseas purchasers should receive the painting unframed and rolled in a tube ready for restretching and framing.
